200th Anniversary of the Louisiana Purchase
March 14 - 17
This
celebration will be held at the St. Louis Gateway Arch. Blanche Touhill and Elizabeth Sayad from the University
of Missouri-St. Louis are co-chairing this event through the
National Louisiana Purchase Bicentenial Committee. They are
soliciting volunteers from our group. The Osage Nation will be represented, and President Bush is expected to attend.
Three Flags Festival on the St. Louis Arch Grounds
Sunday, March 14
We need volunteers for ushers, information
services, hospitality, entertainment guides, and media guides! Shifts will be 2-3 hours in duration between the hours of 1-5 p.m. Volunteers will receive invitations to attend several of the Three Flags Weekend events free of charge in addition to the reward of
civic pride in contributing to one of the premier events in this very
important year in our city's history.
A training and information session will be held on Saturday, March 6,
2004 from 9-11 a.m. in the Arch auditorium (not the Omnimax Theatre )
under the Arch. Parking is available in the north Arch garage
opposite Laclede's Landing.

Central West End Mansion Tour & VIP Reception

another Mansion Tour and VIP Reception at Susan
Wilson-Solovic’s beautiful home on Portland Place. This will take
place the eve of the 1904 World’s Fair grand opening. Stay tuned for details!
Opening Ceremonies Reenactment in Forest Park
Friday, April 30
Reenactment of the opening ceremonies (“100
Years Ago, a Day to Remember”)
of the 1904 World’s Fair. There will be locally based cultural
organizations of 54 nationalities, representing nearly twice as many
countries of the world as the original World’s Fair, and will include a Native American village. They will
demonstrate their dance, music, food and arts and crafts. Our board member, Steve Edison, is
chairing the event. Ceremonies will take place at noon at the base of Art Hill. Hope to meet all of you there.
First Annual 1904 Golf Tournament in Forest Park
Wednesday, June 9
To make reservations for this event or for complete details, including pricing information, go to Tournament Registration. The day will begin with a wonderful catered lunch at the Forest Park Golf Course clubhouse. Then we'll play 18 holes and return to the clubhouse for an open-bar cocktail hour, followed by dinner and prize awards. You may register either for the full day, including lunch and tournament play, or for cocktails/dinner only. Get up a foursome and join us! A Taste of Italy

The St. Louis 1904 World's Fair Charitable Foundation's “A Taste of Italy” Gala
& Auction will benefit
AMC Cancer Research, which was founded in 1904. Cicardi Bruce
[636-532-6165] and Richard Pisani [314-952-2640] have co-chaired
this fund raiser six times in years past and have been very
successful. Jim Olsen [314-750-1505] is chairing the Food &
Beverage Committee again. Contact Jim if you want to help recruit
local restaurants to donate food/beverage for that evening's event.
John Walsh [314-568-3612] and Fran Capra are co-chairing the Auction
Committee. Call John if you want to help them solicit auction items
for the event. We need 250+ items for the Silent Auction and 12 for
the Oral Auction. Please fill out the Volunteer Form if you'd like to help with this event.
1904-2004: A Century of Automobiles
Summer
This car show will show off
100 years of cars and may include a vintage race-car rally through
Forest Park. Jim (“Doc”) Logan and Eric Strutman are the co-chairs and
are working to build a strong committee to plan and execute these
