    Someone once told me…
If you are not part of the cure, then you are part of the problem…
NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the largest education, support and advocacy organization that serves the needs of all those whose lives are touched by these illnesses.  This includes persons with mental illness, their families, friends, employers, the law enforcement community and policy makers.  The NAMI organization is composed of approximately 1100 local affiliates, 50 state offices and a national office.
The goals of the NAMI Walks program are: to fight the stigma that surrounds mental illness, to build awareness of the fact that the mental health system in this country needs to be improved, and to raise funds for NAMI so that they can continue their mission.
NAMI is a 501(c)3 charity and any donation you make to support my participation in this event is tax deductible.  NAMI has been rated by Worth magazine as among the top 100 charities "most likely to save the world" and has been given an "A" rating by The American Institute of Philanthropy for efficient and effective use of charitable dollars.

    Wednesday, March 4, 2009 from 11:30 am ~ 1:30 pm
We have reserved the conference room with Charlie A. Dooley, our St. Louis County Executive and 1904 Foundation 'Honorary Co-Chairman', for our annual meeting with him (this date may change due to Mr. Dooley's busy schedule, so keep your eye on your e-mails and check the site often). We will be recognizing veteran News Anchor, Rick Edlund, who has been on the news in St. Louis since 1985 and a Charter Member of our foundation. As you will recall, Rick and Susan Wilson Solovic, along with Mike Stroot from Technisonic Studios, donated the 6-minute video (that you can see from this web site) that launched our new foundation and the effort that helped raise the initial $600,000.00 for the Grand Basin Fountains in Forest Park below Art Hill. Because of this thrust, we continue to raise money for the Forest Park 'beautification program' and other local charities because of the initial help of Rick Edlund. The COST is $15.00 at the door for a box lunch and beverage. Contact Rich Pisani at richpisani1904@yahoo.com
