Someone once told me… If you are not
part of the cure, then you are part of the problem…
NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the largest education,
support and advocacy organization that serves the needs of all those whose lives
are touched by these illnesses. This includes persons with mental illness,
their families, friends, employers, the law enforcement community and policy
makers. The NAMI organization is composed of approximately 1100 local
affiliates, 50 state offices and a national office.
The goals of the NAMI Walks program are: to fight the stigma that surrounds
mental illness, to build awareness of the fact that the mental health system in
this country needs to be improved, and to raise funds for NAMI so that they can
continue their mission.
NAMI is a 501(c)3 charity and any donation you make to support my participation
in this event is tax deductible. NAMI has been rated by Worth magazine as
among the top 100 charities "most likely to save the world" and has been given
an "A" rating by The American Institute of Philanthropy for efficient and
effective use of charitable dollars. -

St. Louis County Executive, Charlie A. Dooley 'Luncheon &
Board Meeting'
Wednesday, March 4, 2009 from 11:30 am ~ 1:30 pm
We have reserved the conference room with Charlie
A. Dooley, our St. Louis County Executive and 1904 Foundation 'Honorary
Co-Chairman', for our annual meeting with him (this date may change due to Mr.
Dooley's busy schedule, so keep your eye on your e-mails and check the site
often). We will be recognizing veteran News Anchor, Rick Edlund, who has been on
the news in St. Louis since 1985 and a Charter Member of our foundation. As you
will recall, Rick and Susan Wilson Solovic, along with Mike Stroot from
Technisonic Studios, donated the 6-minute video (that you can see from this web
site) that launched our new foundation and the effort that helped raise the
initial $600,000.00 for the Grand Basin Fountains in Forest Park below Art Hill.
Because of this thrust, we continue to raise money for the Forest Park
'beautification program' and other local charities because of the initial help
of Rick Edlund. The COST is $15.00 at the door for a box lunch and beverage.

Time Capsule Ceremony
with Mayor Francis Slay
Scheduled for Monday, April 30, 2007. We will meet at the Southeast corner of
the World's Fair Pavilion at "Windows to the World." The media along with all of
our foundation's members will be invited to witness this historic ceremony.
Mayor Slay will unveil a Missouri Red Granite Monument, donated by
Architectural Stone, Inc. The monument
is the host for two documents that have been etched in steel by
Metal Masters, Inc. to withstand the test of time
for at least 100 years. Permanently adorning the top of the monument is the
Proclamation from the Office of Mayor Francis Slay. Enduringly, the face of the
monument will house the instructions that will be delivered to the St. Louis
University Archive Department regarding the details of archiving and displaying
three time capsules. These capsules contain memorabilia from the 1904 World's
Fair, as well as memorabilia from the Celebratory events that took place in
Forest Park in the year 2004.
Stay tuned for the exact ceremony time.
